About StephenStephen Adams attended Dalhousie University, graduating with a B. Sc. in ’82 and a B. Comm in ’86. He worked for Procter and Gamble Pharmaceuticals from 1986 until 2009 and Warner Chilcott from 2009 until 2013. ​ In 1991, he was elected to Halifax City Council, and in 1994 was elected by his peers as Deputy Mayor, making him the youngest Deputy Mayor in the city's history. He also served as Deputy Mayor of HRM from 2007-08. In October 2020, Stephen retired as a Councilor from Halifax, after serving 29 years. ​ As a member of city council, he served several years as chair of Halifax and West Community Council, Western Community Council, Chebucto Community Council and numerous standing committees. During his lengthy career, he represented urban, suburban and rural communities, giving him a keen insight into the challenges they faced. He has extensive knowledge regarding government processes at the municipal level, which will prove invaluable in moving UDI’s mandate forward. His experience in the private, government and volunteer sectors, combined with the relationships he has developed with municipal staff over the years will help bring a united voice to UDI. ​ Stephen continues to support community groups offering his knowledge and expertise in moving their initiatives forward and is in his 10th year as the GM/Owner of the Spryfield Attack Junior Hockey Club.
